Like any other developing country, India also faces huge challenges in the area of food safety for. But over the last 2 years, the FSSAI has come out with well appreciated proposals or initiatives to revise the existing regulations, standards, food safety practices, guidelines, norms testing methods, etc., to improve the food safety situation in india.
However, we cannot rely solely on the FSSAI for the implementation of food safety rules and regulations but the states need to enhance the food safety, and develop key infrastructure, such as implementation and monitoring mechanism, cold chains development, storage facilities, etc.,
It is time that the states are incentivised and share best practices with each other and do not be lax any longer to ensure food safety in their respective states.
