Everyday Four seedless black dates contains just seedless black dates.
However, the biggest problem with this product is that it is being marketed as a ‘protein rich’ product. Given that a 100gm serving (around 14-15 dates) contains less than two grams of protein, this product cannot be considered to be protein rich under any circumstances.
Furthermore, dates have an extremely high sugar content. Though the packaging states that ‘Everyday Four’ is only a brand and not a recommendation, we believe that people are likely to consider it to be a recommendation. Consuming four dates provides almost the entire Recommended Daily Allowance of sugar for a person.
foodnetindia Safety Rating: 2 (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unsafe to very safe)
Dates are extremely high in sugar. One date may contain more 5 grams of sugar. Even people consuming only four dates a day would be consuming an additional 20 grams of sugar per day.
Therefore, we are forced to give this product a very low safety rating.
foodnetindia Wholesomeness Rating: 2 (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)
Dates contain almost nothing except simple carbohydrates, mostly from sugar. This product can, under no circumstances, be considered ‘protein rich’, as is being claimed.
Dates should only be consumed as a small part of an otherwise balanced diet.
Ingredients of Concern:
Though there is no added sugar in this product, dates are a high sugar product. A diet high in sugar can result in several lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and obesity.
