Cocosutra Chia Soya Chocolaate Chunk Breakfast Granola is a breakfast cereal that markets itself as a high protein breakfast cereal. While, at 5.7 grams of protein per serving, we would not say that it is a ‘high protein’ breakfast, the product does have a much higher protein content than most breakfast cereal options. It also has some healthy ingredients like flaxseeds, peanuts, chia seeds, and dark chocolate.
We also like that the product has a relatively low sugar and salt content.
The foodnetindia rating for this product :-
foodnetindia safety rating: 6 -(On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unsafe to very safe)
We have given this product a higher rating compared to other breakfast cereals because of the low sugar content.
foodnetindia wholesomeness rating: 5 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)
As with the safety rating, this product gets a higher wholesomeness rating than other breakfast cereals, primarily because of the higher protein content. However, we would still advise that products like this one be consumed as a part of a wholesome meal plan that includes abundant protein, vegetables, fruit and healthy fats.
Ingredients of Concern:
Jaggery is often touted as a healthier replacement for sugar because people believe that, unlike refined sugar, it is natural and unprocessed. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Just like sugar, jaggery can cause lifestyle diseases if consumed excessively.
The misconception about jaggery being a safer replacement for sugar is a serious problem, especially in India where food safety awareness is generally on the lower side. People need to realize that consuming sweeteners like jaggery and honey excessively is just as likely to lead to lifestyle diseases like obesity and diabetes.
Other ingredients that are in the product but not a major source of concern in our opinion are:
• Rolled Oats
• Nuts and Seeds Mix: Peanuts 7%, Soynuts 5%, Chia Seeds 4%, Flaxseeds 4%, Melon seeds 4%,
• Soy Butter
• Pomelo Peet
• Dark Chocolate
• Sunflower Oil
• Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin)
