Here is an article in the Times of India, appearing under “News” and shamelessly promoting a brand. And the article is NOT classified as an advertorial but as “News”.
A small note at the bottom says that this article is “produced for” Zydus, the manufacturers and owners of the brand “Sugar Free”.
This must be reported to the Advertising Council of India and action must be taken. And what about News regulators? Is there no law against advertising appearing as “News”?
The Times Of India has become so desperate for revenue that it is compromising its journalism ethics. What are they going to promote next? That Pepsi or Coke are safe for kids?
