DSR (Direct Seeding of Rice) rice is a new technology that combines a chemical herbicide to kill weeds and the direct planting of rice seeds.

DSR removes the need for rice transplantation, which means that there is no water flooding and no labor needed for transplantation of paddy. It saves water and reduces labor costs.

But does it result in safer food? At foodnetindia, we do not think so. We tend to be distrustful of the heavy application of chemical herbicides, weed killers, pesticides, and fumigants. After all, these are poisons for plants or insects, and most are also toxic to humans. And almost all of them continue to be present in varying amounts in the food product, which in the case of DSR, is rice.
