The safety of statins has been coming under increasing scrutiny.

Today statins are prescribed indiscriminately by doctors to practically anyone over the age of 30 with higher than “normal” cholesterol levels.

However, statins have several side effects, and could increase the risk of chronic disease.

A recent peer reviewed study published in the Journal of the British Pharmacological Society clearly infers that “Individuals using statins may be at higher risk for hyperglycaemia, insulin resistance and eventually type 2 diabetes.”
