The attached image is an advertisement for Knorr soups that I saw today on a bus stand in Mahim, Mumbai.
This clearly positions the product as a health food. A “superior snack”!
This kind of advertising infuriates me. Most people believe this crap.
We reviewed some of these Knorr soups on foodnetindia. Here is some shocking information about one of them. I am not sure the others are any better!
Knorr Sweet Corn Chicken Soup contains 21 grams of sugar for every 100 grams of powder! And this in a savoury product? Which means a huge amount of salt as well. More than 10 grams of it! (1.25 gm per 10.5 gm). What kind of “healthy” snack contains 21 percent sugar and 10 percent salt? And people struggling with obesity, hypertension and diabetes sip on this “health” food? http://foodnetindia.in/knorr-sweet-corn-chicken-soup/
The advertising council of India really needs to do a better job of preventing such irresponsibly misleading advertising!
