The world can easily feed 10 billion people using much less land than what’s used for agriculture today.
Swachh Bharat is good, but what we really need is a ‘Swasth Bharat’ campaign targeted at fixing our unhealthy and inadequate home-cooked food. Indian diets, both urban and rural, are deficient in protein, micronutrients, and healthy fats, while having excessive carbohydrates.
Nutrition security is a pressing need, and I agree with the suggestion in an article on Outlook India that we should have a separate ministry of food security and nutrition. There is a need for a two pronged effort in India, aimed at child stunting and lifestyle disease. Child stunting
