Dr Rupali Dutta from Fortis Hospitals is out of touch with the latest advances in nutritional science.

She recommends that diabetics should eat less eggs. This is wrong. Diabetics should be told to eat less carbohydrates (grains, potatoes and sugar).

Eggs have practically zero glycaemic load, and are healthy, nutritious additions to the diet of a diabetic. Diabetics should be encouraged to eat a couple of eggs every day!

Dr Dutta also draws a link between dietary cholesterol and cholesterol in the blood. This is an outdated notion. Dietary cholesterol limits have already been removed by the American Heart Association from their recommendations. The limit on egg consumption, as well as the recommendation to eat egg whites, is old hat, and is not nutritional science. It now firmly belongs in the nutritional superstition bucket!
