Summary feedback
TATA Sampann Chinese chutney is a red chilli, garlic and vinegar based chutney.
This product claims to not contain any preservatives, added colour or added flavours.
Most condiments like this normally contain high levels of salt in them, and although salt is listed on the food label of TATA Sampann Chinese chutney, the exact amount is not mentioned, which makes us think if the manufacturer is trying to hide something from the consumers.
The product contains edible vegetable oil-sunflower oil, which contains very large amounts of biologically active fats called Omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which could be harmful in excess. Excess polyunsaturated fats may react with oxygen and oxidised Omega-6 fats can damage body functions and perhaps even vital structures like DNA. Customers need to maintain a healthy balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acid consumption. However, as this product is usually not consumed in large quantity, we don’t find this to be a problem.
