An Uttar Pradesh state owned lab allegedly found ITC’s Yipee noodles to be “sub-standard”. The ITC company was quick to deny these charges saying that standards prescribed for different category of products were being applied to its products. Food Inspector of the UP government stated that the sample of ITC’s Yipee noodles manufactured at Haridwar, was found to contain total ash in tastemaker that exceeded the maximum prescribed limit of 1 per cent.
ITC said food regulator FSSAI has, in an order dated October 19, 2015, clarified to the Commissioner of Food Safety, Bihar that “instant noodles cannot be tested against the parameters prescribed for dried noodles but have to be tested against the standards stipulated for instant noodles.” Read the whole article
