Summary feedback
Real Pineapple is a popular fruit drink. Fruit Juice is often thought to be healthy because of the word ‘Fruit, but in reality many fruit juices are loaded with sugar and contain as much or more sugar than a carbonated beverage. In addition, as the sugar is often fructose, it is far more harmful than sucrose, which is the sugar often found in carbonated drinks in India.
The product is very sugary at 28gm per 200 ml of the drink. It is not recommended even for very healthy people except in very small quantities because of low nutritional value and high sugar content. It must be completely avoided by diabetics and by obese people as it may be unsafe for them.
The foodnetindia rating for this product :-
foodnetindia safety rating: 2 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unsafe to very safe)
The product is very sugary and not recommended for those who want to lead a healthy lifestyle. One of the immediate side effects of high added sugar in a product is increase in fat deposits in the body which may increase your risk for obesity, diabetes and a host of other conditions. Also, some studies suggest that it’s not FAT but sugar that is the cause for excess weight gain, hence best to avoid this..
foodnetindia wholesomeness rating: 2 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)
Real Pineapple is not ‘juice’ as it is reconstituted from juice concentrate and is not 100% fruit juice. It cannot be considered a good and safe source of nutrition due to its excessive sugar content and cannot substitute whole food or fruit.
Ingredients of concern in Real Pineapple
Sugar
Sugar
Real Pineapple contains total sugar 28 gm sugar per 100 ml, this is an excessive amount. The food product also does not specify which sugar has been used. This is important because different sugars have different metabolic effects. For example, Sucrose (Cane Sugar) is very different from Fructose (Fruit Sugar). Some foods use high fructose corn syrup which may be harmful in much lower quantities than sucrose.  We believe that it is not responsible behaviour for a brand to not clearly state what ingredients have been used.
By not specifying what these flavours and substances are, we are forced to consider what they are hiding and why would they be so reluctant to mention what they have used in the food product!
Other ingredients that are in the product but not a major source of concern in our opinion are:
Water,
Pineapple Juice Concentrate (12.8%)
Acidity Regulator (INS 330)
Antioxidant (INS 300).
