Veeba Eggless Mayonnaise (46% fat) contains refined soyabean oil (45%), synthetic vinegar, sugar, milk solids, salt, spices and condiments.
45% of the product consists of refined soyabean oil which is an edible vegetable oil, vegetable oils contain very large amounts of biologically active fats called Omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which could be harmful in excess.
It does not mention the quantity of salt in it, even though salt is an ingredient mentioned on the food label. Products such as these are known to contain high a high amount of salt in them and high salt consumption is linked to diseases like coronary heart disease, hypertension and lifestyle diseases.
In a 100 gm serving the product contains 8.51 gm sugar which is high for a condiment as this. Daily consumption of this can be problematic for those with diabetes, and lifestyle diseases.

The product label does not mention the quantity of salt used in it but we know that condiments like these contain high amounts of salt. Certain manufacturers do not mention the quantity of salt contained in their products. High sodium diets have been known to be the cause of high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. The recommended daily intake of salt is between 1-3 grams.
Preservatives Sodium Benzoate IN 211
Benzoic acid and benzoates are used as preservatives against both yeasts and bacteria in acidic products. They are not very effective against fungi, and ineffective in products with a pH above 5 (slightly acidic or neutral). High concentrations have an acid taste, which limits the application. Benzoates are often preferred, due to better solubility.
In some people benzoic acid and benzoates may liberate histamine and thus cause pseudo-allergic reactions.

This food product does not specify which sugar has been used. This is important because different sugars have different metabolic effects. For example, Sucrose (Cane Sugar) is very different from Fructose (Fruit Sugar). Some foods use high fructose corn syrup which may be harmful in much lower quantities than sucrose. We believe that it is not responsible behaviour for a brand to not clearly state what ingredients have been used.
