Pepsi is the third most popular beverage in India, however it is clearly harmful even in the quantity sold as one single can.
While it is a Caffeinated beverage and contains other ingredients that we would not recommend, the single biggest problem is the excessive sugar content. At 41 grams of sugar per 355 ml can, one single can is more than the WHO recommended daily allowance for a healthy individual. For individuals who are susceptible to metabolic syndrome or already suffer from it, even one can is unsafe and not at all recommended.

Not recommended for healthy people except in very small quantities and not recommended at all for people who tend towards obesity, hypertension, high blood sugar, diabetes etc.

There is no nutritional value in this beverage but it has a high calorie content coming almost entirely from sugar of approximately 150 Kcal in 355 ml of Pepsi.
Ingredients of concern in Pepsi –
• CARAMEL COLOR,
• PHOSPHORIC ACID,
• CITRIC ACID,
• NATURAL FLAVOR
One can of Pepsi which is approximately 355 ml, contains 41 gms of sugar which is higher than the WHO recommended daily allowance of 25 gms per day. This beverage should be avoided at all costs especially by diabetics and heart patients.
Caramel colour produced with ammonia may be associated with blood toxicity and results in a reduction of white cells and lymphocyte count. It is not clear whether Pepsi uses caramel color produced with ammonia.
Phosphoric acid may lead to calcium loss in bones and tooth erosion. It may increases the chance of getting osteoporosis and may be linked to kidney damage and kidney stones.
Other ingredients that are in the product but not a major source of concern in our opinion are:
