Summary Feedback
Nestle Everyday is a commonly used dairy whitener used to prepare tea, coffee and milk in India.
We are surprised by the high amount of sugar in it as a 100 gm pack contains 53.1 gm of sugar, and as people generally add more sugar while preparing tea/coffee, this could lead to a pileup of sugar.
The foodnetindia Safety rating for this product:-
foodnetindia safety rating: 4 (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unsafe to very safe)
There is a lot of sugar in this product. The high sugar factor in it makes it unsuitable for those who are overweight and for those at risk of lifestyle disease.
foodnetindia wholesomeness rating: (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)
Nestle Everyday Dairy Whitener contains nutritious milk solids in it, but a product with so much sugar is unsuitable for regular consumption for most people.
Ingredients of concern in Nestle Everyday Dairy Whitener

Sugar
Sugar is a carbohydrate found naturally in a host of different foods from lactose in milk to the fructose in fruit and honey. In fact, we need some sugar in our diets to supply ready energy to fuel our muscles and keep our brains active. The problem is that many processed foods have added sugar which supplies energy in the form of calories – and very little else. This means our body has to draw on the nutrients from the rest of our diet to process it and this can affect our health, including our immunity – leaving us more prone to bugs and colds. A high intake of sugar causes our blood sugar levels to shoot up, giving us that feel-good ‘high’ followed by a crashing slump which leaves us tired, irritable and craving more sugary foods. It’s a vicious cycle that may be contributing to our weight problems as well as health concerns like diabetes and heart disease.
Other ingredients that are in the product but not a major source of concern in our opinion are:

  • Milk Solids
  • Stabilizer IN 339(iii)

Nestle’s Response:
Dear Mr. Dushyant,
We highly appreciate the time spent on the phone call today and for sharing your constructive feedback with us.
We understand the concern raised by you regarding sugar content in Nestlé EVERYDAY Dairy Whitener, we would like to assure you that we are committed to provide you with the high quality products.
As discussed with you, Nestlé EVERYDAY is a dairy whitener added to tea and contains milk solids along with sugar and FSSAI approved additives. The recommended serving size to be added in a cup of tea is 1 tsp which includes both Lactose and added sugar. Having said that, we are committed to reduce levels of sugar in our products and are progressively doing so in relevant products and categories .
Also as discussed with you all Nestlé products have GDA labelling in front of pack which has been developed to support consumer understanding on nutrition composition of products. It promotes transparency on-pack by contextualizing the nutrition information in relation to a clearly defined reference portion. This makes nutrition information more accessible and understandable, helping consumers make healthier choices right at the point of sale and moment of use. The new packing as was mentioned will be available in the market in coming days. Please find attached the image of new pack.
