B Natural Mango Magic

Summary feedback
The product claims to be natural and refreshing but contains a lot of sugar (11 gms of added sugar along with 3.7 gms of natural sugar per 100 ml of the drink) and no fibre at all according to their website. Taking in so many calories from sugar is not worth the indulgence and instead we advise you to eat whole fresh fruit  and not add sugar for a healthy juice alternative. This product is not safe for consumption because of the very high levels of sugar, except in very small quantities. One 330 ML bottle can contain 50 grams or almost 10 teaspoons of sugar. This is very high and can cause serious problems for people if consumed regularly.
The foodnetindia rating for this product :-Foodnetindia safety rating : 3(On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unsafe to very safe)
Generally safe for healthy people but only in very small servings of 50 grams or less and unsafe for many people who are at risk of metabolic syndrome, diabetes or other serious health issues.
foodnetindia wholesomeness rating : 3 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)
This food has very little macro nutrient diversity and is a sugars and simple carbs loaded food with no protein or healthy fat content. The added sugars and already present sugar is very high and can spike your sugar level and high blood sugar drives insulin which is a fat storage hormone and repeated consumption can cause insulin resistance and lead to hypertension, obesity, diabetes, liver damage and much more.
Ingredients of concern in ITC B Natural Mango Drink

  • Sugar
  • Added Flavours
  • Permitted Natural Colours
  • Acidity Regulator: IN 330

The product is mainly made with mango pulp and water with added sugar. However using fruits to make juice without fibre and instead adding high amounts of sugar to already present natural sugar does not sound healthy at all especially to those fighting sugar related diseases and heart diseases.
Sugar
The Manufacturer states that the product contains 11 gms of added sugar and 3.7 gms of natural sugar per 100 ml, this is unacceptable as 1 glass of juice which is 250 ml would translate into a total of 36.75 gms of sugar whereas the WHO has set the permitted sugar intake a day to 25 gms a day. One single glass exceeds your sugar allowance from ALL sources!
This is really bad for diabetics and heart patients and anyone who wants to stay healthy should definitely stay far away from this product.
Permitted Natural Colours
We believe that it is irresponsible for a brand to not write the chemical names and quantities of added flavoring substances or colors. In this case, the brand fails to mention the names or quantities of the colours added.

Acidity Regulator IN 330
Citric acid E330 or 330 is added to give a sour taste and also prevent bacterial growth. However, it could damage the enamel ofyour teeth if you kept it in your mouth for long or if you consume soft drinks a lot.
Other ingredients that are in the product but not a major source of concern in our opinion are:
Water
Blended Mango Pulp
Acidity Regulator IN 330
