Summary feedback
This product is a popular snack in Mumbai and comprises of rice puffs and bengal gram, fried in refined Palmolein oil.
Adding Bengal gram to rice puffs increases the nutritional value of the food, however it has a high salt content of 164 mg per serving of 28 grams
If you are looking for wholesome ‘diet food’ to lose some weight, then better to snack on nuts which actually help to reduce weight despite their high calorie content. We do not consider Garden Diet Bhel to be a diet food. It is high in calories from simple starches, which are fattening because of their high glycemic and insulinemic value.
The foodnetindia rating for this product :-

This product has high salt content. Otherwise it is a safe food though not a very healthy one. .
foodnetindia wholesomeness rating: 6 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)
The product has nutritional rice poha, bengal gram dal and bengal gram flour and is fried in palmolein oil which altogether add some wholesomeness to the product. Unlike most other vegetable oils, palmolein is primarily saturated fat, it is better suited for cooking. It does not have too much PUFA, which can get oxidized under heat and be rendered toxic.
