Toblerone is a Swiss chocolate brand owned by US confectionery company Mondelēz International, Inc., formerly Kraft Foods.
We like the fact that Toblerone Dark chocolate is not made from vegetable oil or vegetable fats but contains wholesome milk fats and Cocoa butter
In a 33 gm bar of Toblerone there is 15 gm of sugar which is high and not recommended for diabetics and those with lifestyle diseases.
The foodnetindia rating for this product:-
foodnetindia safety rating : 6 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unsafe to very safe)
We are not concerned about the fat content of 10 gm per 33 gm because it is healthy milk fat and cocoa butter. The sugar content is a worrying factor if this product is consumed frequently and in large quantities. As little as two servings (66 grams) puts an adult over the daily recommended sugar limit.
foodnetindia wholesomeness rating :6 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)
Toblerone Dark Chocolate contains wholesome milk fat, honey, almonds, egg whites and cocoa. If it was not for the high sugar content, we would have given this a much higher wholesomeness rating.
Ingredients in Toblerone Dark Chocolate which are a concern
Toblerone Dark Chocolate contains 15 gm sugar per 33 gm bar. This food product does not specify which sugar has been used. This is important because different sugars have different metabolic effects. For example, Sucrose (Cane Sugar) is very different from Fructose (Fruit Sugar). Some foods use high fructose corn syrup which may be harmful in much lower quantities than sucrose. We believe that it is not responsible behaviour for a brand to not clearly state what ingredients have been used.
Ingredients present in Toblerone Dark Chocolate are not a concern
- Cocoa Mass
- Cocoa Butter
- Cocoa Solids
- Milk fat
- Egg White
