18 deaths due to botulism created a mighty scare in the USA around 1920 and food safety regulation was born.
India faces hundreds and possibly tens of thousands of deaths every day due to contaminated or adulterated food and water. Why are we so apathetic as a people that we don’t rise up to demand a cleanup? Why do we accept poor food safety regulation and poor enforcement of food safety regulation?
The Government of India must invest much more to enforce food safety regulation. Our widespread poor food safety situation is like the developed world was a 100 years ago.
