Indian Railways’ Food Safety Reputation Takes Another Hit

With all the noise being made in Parliament about the bad quality of food served on trains, there has been another incident where a passenger has complained of finding an insect in pakodas served by the pantry staff in Bihar Sampark Kranti Express.

He adds that when we complained to the pantry manager he profusely apologised and that another passenger also tweeted the same issue to the railway ministry. The railway ministry immediately responded to the post on the microblogging site, directing the officials concerned to “Please look into the matter urgently,” Ali said.

The Railways sent its officials to meet him at various stations in Uttar Pradesh to try and do some introspection and damage control, even checking if he got sick due to eating the pakoda.
