Dairy Board launching Quality Mark For Milk And Milk Products

Dairy products in India will be soon getting the “quality mark” like Woolmark, Agmark and ISI. The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will launch its own “quality mark” for dairy products, including milk and curd pouches. This is being done to bring an improvement in the chain from producer to consumer so that all Indians can have access to safe and good quality of milk.

The NDDB said that the dairy units which qualify for the criteria of quality marks can use the logo on the package containing milk and milk products. The use of the logo will be valid for three years subject to maintenance of quality, food safety standards and also compliance with the terms and conditions of the agreement.

The assessment process of the milk quality is a 2 step process involving a pre-assessment and a final assessment. The pre-assessment covers village level procurement, and a final assessment is done for evaluation of 45 critical and 97 major parameters which play a role in the quality of the processed milk and milk products.
