Summary feedback

L’Exclusif Selection Smooth and Smokey Coated Cappuccino is a 100 gm jar of chocolate coated cappuccino beans.

It has an astounding amount of added sugars at 50 gm in just 100 gm pack which is extremely high and can cause diabetes and obesity if consumed regularly.

The product also contains hydrogenated vegetable oil which are a source of trans fatty acids or “transfats”, which are harmful to health. Transfats increase the likelihood of heart disease, stroke, cancer and many other ailments.

The foodnetindia rating for this product:-

The foodnetindia safety rating: 3 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unsafe to very safe)

It is very high in sugar content and also contains hydrogenated veg oil which contains transfats, so we are unable to give it a good safety rating .

The foodnetindia wholesomeness rating: 4 – (On a scale of 1 to 10 from very unbalanced nutrition profile to excellent nutrition profile)

We love the fact that the product contains wholesome milk solids in it but we would like Godrej Nature’s Basket to lower the overall added sugar and also keep in mind its consumers health and remove hydrogenated veg oil from its ingredient list and substitute it with butter or milk fat so that this product can be considered to be healthy and safe for all to consume.

Ingredients in it which are a concern

Sugar

It contains 50 gm sugar per 100 gm. This food product does not specify which sugar has been used. This is important because different sugars have different metabolic effects. For example, Sucrose (Cane Sugar) is very different from Fructose (Fruit Sugar). Some foods use high fructose corn syrup which may be harmful in much lower quantities than sucrose.  We believe that it is not responsible behaviour for a brand to not clearly state what ingredients have been used.

Hydrogenated vegetable oil

Partially Hydrogenated and Hydrogenated fats are a source of trans fatty acids or “transfats”, which are harmful to health. Transfats increase the likelihood of heart disease, stroke, cancer and many other ailments.

Transfats  are toxic and some cities like New York have banned them from use in restaurants. Transfats have been shown to consistently be associated, in an intake-dependent way, with risk of coronary heart disease, the leading cause of death. They may also be responsible for alzheimer’s disease, cancer, liver disease and many more ailments.

Ingredients present in it which are not a concern
